The G-Scan is phenomenal. The best selling scan tool in Japan and original OEM for Hyundai and Kia motors. At the moment G-Scan UK have a launch offer on the unit!

Hi Guys,
Many have come claiming to be the best, somehow the good old LAUNCH master seems to beat them back overall, time will tell, what i can say is, there are very few tools on the market that can give overall coverage like LAUNCH, most scanners are designed specially towards a particlar market, but LAUNCH adopted a more open minded approach,in that they try to give coverage on most vehicles, maybe LAUNCH may not be as good as other scanners geared towards a paticular market such as CARMAN on ASIAN VEHICLES, but you will find that having a LAUNCH you will not have to turn away a customer , for CARMAN, i cannot say the same, time will tell how good G-SCAN actually is, what i do know for sure is that they have come to the party late.

i agree..i think any new tools now will have to be on par with the dealer ones to gain any ground on what is already out there, built in wifi, wiring diagrams, bluetooth, scope etc etc are all nice things to have but if the diagnostic side is no better than other tools then they soon become obsolete gimmicks.

hello all, i add to what i said before, if a person looks at first world countries like the USA,UK, you can easily see why LAUNCH is the prefered choice over other scanners, because it has good GERMAN coverage and is not to bad on ASIAN neither, i would say normally to make it big, if you can make it BIG in the USA or UK, you can make it big anywhere, others scanners is not the big in the USA, UK, coz it is geared towards a perticlar market, like CARMANS is toward ASIAN, and having basically poor coverge on EURO VEHICLES, tools like that would be useless in a workshop in the USA, UK where there are so many GERMAN, EURO VEHICLES BEING REPAIRED, now you can see why LAUNCH is more prefered over the others,

Hi Guys/Gals. I'm in New Zealand and G Scan has been on sale in New Zealand for just over 18 months and so far it's been a real hit. G Scan's strength really does lay in the Asian market at the moment and has been the #1 besting selling scan tool in Japan for the last 3 years. Being in New Zealand the majority of used vehicle sales are ex JDM imported vehicles and this makes the NZ car market one of the most diverse in the world. and for that reason alone G Scan has proven it's worth over here, Most of it's abilities (for JDM) are near OE spec (It come pre loaded with both KIA and Hyundai dealer software) and it really excels in late model Common Rail Diesel (Toyota Hilux/Hiace 1KD-FTV, Isuzu D-Max 4BB1-T, Mitsi 4M44-T) just to name a few. and then the Australian specific vehicle coverage is fantastic as well (Holden Commodore/Vaxuall Monaro? Ford Falcon). Yes it has some weaknesses - They have just released some trail software for two models of Peugeot, Citroen, Renault but no real French vehicle applications yet. It's OK on BMW with a few bugs to iron out, and has so far been better on Merc than Hanatech (which was fairly good). In New Zealand the biggest selling scan tool has been the Hanatech, but like the older Carman's their technology is old and really needs an update of spec. Carmen has had limited success but the word over hear is that their parent company in Korea is in major financial trouble. Bosch for NZ is a waste of time and too expensive, Autoland is just about to be re-release over here and is very good at European, OK at JDM but lacks any Australian specific (Which NZ has a lot of). Autoboss is a joke, Autel is a cheap nasty piece of *** but it's super cheap so some people buying on price alone. Snap On is very disappointing and expensive (more so when you have to keep buying their keys). And lastly (I've left it to last on purpose) Launch Launch has a fairly good following here in NZ, The people who have one tend to like them, The biggest complaint I've hear is that they are quite slow in operation. The main issue with Launch in NZ (and I'd say most parts of the world) is the parallel imports and clones. There is only one (or maybe two now) official agent(s) for Launch in NZ but people are getting them from the Internet out of the UK, China, Singapore and their not getting support or Australasia specific software. I've even heard one story of one brought on line out of China that came looking legit but had no internals inside it! and stories like that have really tarnished the Launch name. I think unless Launch can rain in these sorts of things happening it will never be as successful (globally) as it could be. And in case some people are wondering why I've posted this? Well I was 'goggling' for some info on a fault code (P2BAB Denso specific to do with the EGR on a 1KD-FTZV Hilux engine), came across this and thought I'd add my 2c! I hope someone has found what I've written useful.

Hi There,
of course, that's what this forum is about, but you are right to a certain extent, coz as long as there is parallel imports of LAUNCH products, the dealers would suffer, like i probably am right now, its not that LAUNCH is a bad tool, it is actually very good, but there dealers suffer to much, coz of unfair business practices, sad thing is while the market for scanners has come and is going, i hope G-SCANs does not expect to make profits like LAUNCH made, coz as many people know, companies like LAUNCH turned billion dollar companies selling scanners, coz they were in the market at the right time, now the market has become saturated, its going to be difficult for companies to maintain paying lots of software engineers while sales are dwindling, hope G-SCANS can maintain there standard, coz they are really scraping up whats left,
thanks NEILTTIT

I used many scan tools from the Launch to the Autoboss the Launch is a bit hard to work with is not as user friendly as the Autoboss, even some of the wording is difficult to understand, but the coverage on Euro is by far the best, 1 complaint i have about the Launch is that is very weak in USA models and is hard also in some weak Asian Vehicles, i worked with the G-scan recently and its geared towards asian vehicles but also fairly strong in Euro up to 2008 i mean it covers all the systems in Euro vehicles, the menu is really easy to work with even picking the correct model is easy it breaks it down per year and model, whenever i use the Launch i need to use the internet to try to figure out what chasis model im working with. The G-scan is OEM when it comes to Asian vehicles, is very fast and has many features, you can take screen shots write notes with a pen, the graphing is amazing also the unit itself is like a portable game system the feel to it is very good and the quality is un-match from the cables to the quality of the tool it seems Korea puts out better quality products, its a new unit and the coverage is still being expanded in a few years i see this being a better scan tool in all regions very soon, only reason you don't hear a lot about the G-scan is because dealers are under strict rules no online pricing no auction site listings no worldwide selling which is not a bad thing for the dealers but as a result a lot of people dont know about it.

I haven't used the G-Scan unit yet, but am interested because I see alot of Asian stuff through the workshop. Apparently Blue Print (parts supplier) have the UK distribution rights to G-Scan, so you can buy a unit from any motor factor that stocks Blue Print, i'm not sure about price. They have a website www.blue-print.com/gscan

time will tell my friend, i have said this before, and i will say his again, the huge market for scanners has come and gone, in my country most mechanics have scanners, and many of them arn't looking to spend more money currently, with the current economic situation worldwide many people are holding back on spending, this new brand will find and up hill battle to grow this brand, especially when most people have grown to like LAUNCH and CARMAN, in the USA its SNAP-ON, but those brand have been around long enough and have stood the test of time, companies like LAUNCH , has become BILLION dollar companies selling scanners, coz they in the market at a time when the scanner CRAZ was developing, now things are getting slow, and i used to sell scanners along , but i am now trying to diversify into other products as well since scanner sales are getting smaller every year, i my country it would be dificult to convince mechanics to buy another brand when all they know is LAUNCH and CARMAN, 2 brands that they trust and believe in.

Don't forget GSCAN is made by GIT they made the oem tools for Kia AND Hyundai also is the best seller in Japan, once the software evolves into euro and american this will be a better tool over all compare to the Launch, you really have to get your hands on one to realize this is a better tool quality wise

and so will every other scantool supplier say about their tool.lol making 2 manufacturer oem tools doesnt give them the edge on everyone else unfortunately...ask ANY tool supplier. looks like this one will become an expensive paperweight unfortunately..and personally dont think the euro software will be better than what is already available on other platforms which isnt enough reason to buy yet another tool which does the same or no more than the rest out there.. sorry if you disagree but its a plain and simple fact both ergonomicaly and economicaly.

i think it is fair to say when reading though all the posts regarding this topic that all tools do have strengths and weakness & some better than others in certian areas also in this industry every tool develops over time from strength to strength in the total vehicle coverage available, i can also possible say that any unknown tool (NOT saying that Gscan is not known) but is very difficult to establish into any market place (especially the UK) and these companies will know this and the bridges they need to cross (if thats fair to say)
i cannot say personally that i have used a one yet to have any overall comments about it but no doubt i will soon, but it will be interesting to see how it develops here plus it will give me something to do

i spoke to G-SCANS area manager in my country about the EURO software, their main concern is not EURO software, but asian market, they have left other brands of scanners in the UK to deal with the european brands of vehicles, so for now it's just basic coverage on EURO.i honestly don't think brands like CARMAN and LAUNCH will allow G-SCAN to decimate it's products, if G-SCAN claim they are the best, then i believe LAUNCH and CARMAN will come up to scratch. i have looked at LAUNCH software on some ASIAN vehicles recently, like toyota, nissan , mitsubishi....., i can see improvments taking place in some areas, especially toyota. but LAUNCH has lost points for quality in recent times, CARMAN continues to be a good tool, however i believe it is alleged someone on this forum said ,the parent company was in serious financial crisis, ALL IN ALL TIME WILL TELL
